~ NBMDA Member and National Building Material Distributor Hosts Food Drive as part of Yearly Charitable Initiative ~
Batavia, Illinois – April 6, 2016 – In March, Parksite’s employee-owners donated over 5,000 lbs. of food and over $500 to local food banks in their communities as part of their 2016 Volunteer Initiative. “An important part of the Parksite culture is the continuous professional development and community outreach opportunities we provide our employee-owners”, stated Elizabeth Wheeler, Corporate Administrator for Parksite. “Each year, a group of associates, coined the ‘Parksite Culture Connectors’, outlines the organizations’ charitable initiatives with the intention to be inclusive of all associates and provide outreach opportunities in our local communities.”
The motto for this year is, “Giving is more than making a donation; it’s about making a difference”. For each season in 2016, Parksite employee-owners have selected a particular theme allowing everyone in the organization to participate and additionally add some friendly competition between branch locations. Each location set a goal of donating 500 lbs. of food. The other selected themes include a Summer School Supply Drive, Fall Coat Drive and Winter Toy Drive.
Dean Place, Culture Connector and Inside Sales Representative in the Baltimore facility commented, “Baltimore came in with a total of 378 lbs, however much of it was diapers, baby formula and toiletries . . . not much weight, but items very needed. All in all, it was a great experience; everyone participated and the event reiterated to me what a great company we have the privilege to own.”
Food Banks and charitable organizations benefiting from Parksite’s food drive include: Northern Illinois Food Bank, Geneva, IL; DuPage Townnship Food Pantry, Romeoville, IL; Western Wake Crisis Center, Apex, NC; Hands on Hartford, South Windsor, CT Food Bank of Central New York, Syracuse, NY; Marylad Food Bank, Baltimore, MD; Akron Canton Food Bank, ouisville, OH; Community Food Bank of New Jersey, North Brunswick, NJ; Feeding Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay, Florida; Great Plains Food Bank, Fargo, ND.
