Effective December 1, any salaried (a.k.a. “exempt”) employee earning less than $47,476 will either need to be reclassified as hourly/non-exempt (and eligible for overtime) or receive a pay increase to the new minimum threshold.
It is essential to consider the following:
- Do you have a plan in place to comply with the new overtime provisions?
- Are you absolutely confident all of your salaried exempt employees and independent contractors are correctly classified
- Misclassification of employees is a major problem that leaves nearly three-quarters of employers exposed to enforcement penalties and other expenses including back pay, taxes and legal fees
To help you prepare for the new overtime rule changes, NBMDA is again partnering with Affinity HR Group to host a free webinar on complying with the overtime provisions. This webinar will answer your questions on how to stay compliant.
