MANAGING EXPECTATIONS
FRIDAY, MARCH 8, 2002
8:30 - 11:30 A.M.
Michael Workman
Michael E. Workman and Associates, Ltd.
Methods for increasing productivity and profitability are usually short lived, woefully inadequate, ill timed or aimed at motivational response. It seems that as soon as we have the magic formula, someone changes the variables. In these times of increasing gap management, studies show that there is a gap between knowing what to do and doing it; and a growing gap between the expectations of management and those of employees, suppliers and customers.
How do we identify and manage expectations? How do we align those expectations toward results and profitability? How do expectations affect performance, relationships, metrics and profits? Using economic decision making processes instead of conventional management has produced phenomenal results in many companies over the past few years.
In this session Michael Workman will take a hard look at aligning and managing expectations, profit based decision making, creating and influencing a business culture, and hyperarchies in distribution management today. You'll see your business from a different perspective, and there will be tips for effectively regaining control of both speed and direction of your organization.
Michael Workman is an accomplished author, speaker and instructor of management, leadership and business development programs. He has done extensive international training and research in wholesale distribution.
Dr. Workman is Professor Emeritus of the Industrial Distribution faculty at Texas A&M University, where he taught for 19 years. He does presentations and consulting work globally for distributors, manufacturers and international distribution organizations in marketing, sales, purchasing, sales management, negotiations and operations management.
