We do stay abreast of our competition and we strive to exceed the competition. Our sales and marketing programs are designed to bring new products, services and business practices to our customers rather than simply following our competition.

What role do you see the Internet playing in building material distribution?

Plans for 2005 include the implementation of a warehouse management system.

We see the Internet becoming more and more important to distributors and their customers. We will offer to our customers a user friendly Web site that features our catalog, sale fliers and ordering system. We also plan to offer e-mail sent to customers providing news, specials, updates, price lists and sale fliers.

In what ways does NBMDA add value to your firm?
It helps us in our communication and relationship with vendors. The Annual Convention brings many vendors together at the same time in one location. We are able to conduct a large variety of business economically in a short period of time. We would actually prefer more time dedicated to vendor meetings. The speakers are generally very informative and even entertaining and the networking opportunities are excellent.

History:
Jaeckle Wholesale was started in 1958 by Harvey and Hardy Jaeckle as a plastic laminate distributor in Southern Wisconsin. Hardware, flooring and tile products were added in subsequent years. The second generation of the business was headed by Fred Jaeckle, current CEO. The company expanded several times, now covering 10 states in the Midwest from five locations with over 120 employees. Jeff Jaeckle, current president, leads the company as the third generation business continues to thrive.

Our goal is to be in business forever. We believe we must continually redefine business practices and apply innovative means to meet the increasing demands and expectations of our customers. Strategic planning, information technology, financial management and expansion are some of the key elements in our goal to be in business forever.

New Corporate Headquarters Highlights Jaeckle’s Future:
During 2003, Jaeckle completed the construction and move into a new corporate headquarters building. The new 115,000 square-foot facility allows us the opportunity to take advantage of a new zone picking system that improved warehouse efficiency. In 2005, we plan to implement a warehouse management system. Continued development of our Web site and implementation of a webcasting system are also planned for 2005.
