Think of NBMDA as ACCESS to the Premiere Distributors in the Industry.
NBMDA has created a membership category specifically for service providers to the industry. Our Allied membership category represents companies such as software providers, consultants, architects, and firms interested in marketing their services to the industry.
As the premier association of wholesale distributor decision-makers in North American, NBMDA is often utilized by Allied firms to tap into our cost and time efficient network.
NBMDA represents over 130 wholesale distributor firms operating 900 distribution centers. These distributors attend our events in order to source new products, services and to find innovative new lines. Our on-line membership directory will provide your company a listing as well as give you access to updated contact information on all of our members to keep in touch throughout the year!
Definition of an Allied Member:
Any person or corporation who provides a product or service, other than building materials, to wholesale distributors for use in their business and not normally for resale may become an allied member.
Why should an Allied Service Provider join NBMDA?
NBMDA means a great deal to its distributor members. They belong to NBMDA in an effort to enhance their leadership development, competitive advantage and bottom line. Having their key service providers actively supporting NBMDA simultaneously enhances the overall value for everyone. Thus, if wholesale distributors represent an important customer group for your product or service, active participation in NBMDA is a cost and time efficient means of building distributor relations, gaining knowledge about distribution trends and ultimately growing your distributor sales.
In a word it's ACCESS. We unite the leading distributors from across North America and help to facilitate your ability to access them. You could fly across the continent attempting to get an audience with the principles of these distribution firms or you can attend an NBMDA event and meet with them all at one time.
Developing strong relationships with the distribution community and fully understanding their needs today as well as in the coming years is vital to the success of any provider of distributor-oriented goods and services. Communication is key. Information is invaluable. Personally knowing the players in the distribution industry will make a significant impact on your success.
NBMDA is simply a conduit from your firm to the distribution channel. We make your life easier. We save you money. We unite your customers and potential customers. We educate your customers so that they are stronger. We create an environment which is conducive to effective communication between yourself and the distributor community. We stimulate innovative thinking which can solve your most challenging distribution challenges.
Distributor Marketplace & Annual Convention
The most effective means of directly tapping into the community of NBMDA distributors and exposing your products and programs to the movers and shakers of the distribution industry is to participate in the NBMDA Distributor Marketplace & Annual Convention held every November. This is our largest and best attended event of the year. It also features the most opportunities for manufacturers new to the organization to efficiently interact with a large number of our distributor members.
NBMDA does not operate a trade show. Instead, we have chosen to develop an environment which is conducive to executive interchange between current and potential trading partners. This function is our Distributor Marketplace which is coupled with our Annual Convention each Fall. It attracts distribution principles and their senior management team looking to engage in productive dialogue with their trading partners and to see the latest new products. Scheduled appointments guarantee that you will see who you want to see. Tabletop only regulations guarantee that you will not waste money on shipping and assembling a trade show booth. A condensed two-day format will ensure that your time is productive and your expenses are minimal. The focus of our event is on audience quality not quantity.
In addition to our conference session, the Convention features stimulating guest speakers, roundtable discussion sessions and committee meetings designed to educate you on the issues impacting the channel, provide a forum for finding solutions to industry challenges and simply provide an open forum for dialogue. In 2012 this event will be co-sponsored with the North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD).
NBMDA has developed an interactive directory of member data which will serve as a valuable resource in your sales and marketing campaigns. The web-based membership directory contains complete information on each distributor members including their headquarters and branch locations. Key executives are highlighted as well as their contact information including address, phone, fax and e-mail. The tool is completely searchable by member type, membership segment, geography and product code. This web-based directory is tied to the master membership database and is updated in real time making it far more valuable than any printed directory.
As an allied member of the association, complete information on your firm will be immediately added to this valuable resource tool.
Preview the public search area to see how our Membership Directory works. Keep in mind, full contact detail is available for members only.
What are membership segments?
NBMDA segments its membership into two categories based on the customer base that our distributor members serve. This segmentation enhances the networking experience and allows us to tailor our education and products to address specific issues impacting a unique marketplace.
The Cabinet Industry Distribution Alliance (CIDA) consists of distributors and manufacturers selling primarily to custom cabinet shops, woodworkers, store fixture manufacturers, fabricators and the furniture industry.
Specialty Building Products Distribution (SBPD) consists of distributors and manufacturers selling primarily to retail outlets including lumber yards, hardware stores and home centers.
