The NBMDA Education Foundation ProgramsWelcome to the NBMDA Certificate/Degree Programs information page. Below you will find a variety of programs designed to provide certification or degrees to further your education on a variety of topics.
The University of Industrial Distribution is a concentrated educational program focused on the unique needs of the industrial wholesale distribution industry. Hosted by Indiana University and Purdue University the UID program offers an intensive 5 day program dedicated to the distribution industry, located at the University Place Conference Center and Hotel in Indianapolis, IN. The 2008 program will be held March 2-5, 2008. The last four years have sold out, so be sure to register early. Registration is scheduled to open in late October. The University of Industrial Distribution’s course curriculum provides each individual with an opportunity to select those courses and programs of study most beneficial to the individual and organization. Along with the popular courses in sales, profitability, value added, channel management, and improving performance, the 2007 University of Industrial Distribution featured 13 New Courses, along with 4 revised courses for a total of 31 courses. There are several sequences of courses designed to provide the participants with an increasing level of knowledge. Participants can choose from several curriculum programs or modules including Sales and Marketing; Branch & Operations Management; Effective Use of Tools and Processes to Improve Customer Relations; Financial Information for Decision Making to Improve Profitability; Enhancing Negotiation Skills; Understanding Purchasing Processes; and a series of courses on how to enhance the value added for customers; and other specific courses designed to enhance managerial and sales skills for distributors and manufacturing executives and managers. The Professional Certificate of Industrial Distribution (PCID) is designed specifically for the industrial distribution industry and manufacturers who market through industrial distribution channels. The Certificate is earned by completing 90 hours of specified educational programs. The Certificate program consists of two elements: (1)attendance at either one University of Industrial Distribution Program earning 3.0 Continuing Education Units (CEU's) or two UID Programs at which registrants earn 6.0 CEU's; and (2) educational programs offered through a number of venues including company-sponsored educational programs, educational seminars and workshops co-sponsored by UID co-sponsoring professional distribution associations, college course work, and other approved educational offerings. The University of Industrial Distribution offers one of the finest concentrated learning programs available to executives and managers of distribution firms and manufacturers who sell through distribution to gain an understanding of key functional elements for successful and profitable businesses. The Certificate serves as a substantial part of an individual's career path development, as well as enhancing an executives worth to your organization. The PCID program is designed for individuals in all business functional areas and is one of the best investments that can be made to realize a return on education for both individuals and organizations. In applying for the credit, you will need to provide the name and type of education offered by which organization (association, firm, or college), who was the instructor, and most importantly a description of the course/training and all materials used in that training. These materials are necessary for evaluative purposes and will be returned to you, upon request. Each 10 hours of education equals (1) Continuing Education Unit. The UID program registrar keeps track of your attendance at UID programs. The other required materials used to satisfy the remaining 60 or 30 hours of course work are examined and certified by the Industrial Distribution academic program office at UAB. Texas A&M University's world-leading Industrial Distribution program invites you to discover the flexibility of obtaining your Master of Industrial Distribution via the Internet. The Executive Master of Industrial Distribution (MID) degree program, now in its fourth year is offered through Texas A&M's 8th ranked Dwight Look College of Engineering. The lockstep master's is designed for professionals in the manufacturing and industrial distribution fields. It includes one week in residency at Texas A&M University each year. The eighteen-month MID program allows the busy executive to earn a master's degree with minimal career interruption. Unlike some advanced degrees that provide generalized knowledge in a number of areas, the MID is tailored specifically to professionals employed by manufacturers, manufacturer-distributor relationships, supply chain management, quality issues, global distribution, strategic planning, and more.
